Lyra is the daughter of Lord Asriel and Mrs.Coulter . Lyra is 11 years old, and her Daemon is named

because she plays a huge role into the fate of mankind. Lyra is able to read the Alethiometer, and is known

what she's doing. She can be helped, though, and if my plan with the Tokay had succeeded, she would have
been safe for a little longer. I would have liked to spare her a journey to the North. I wish above all things that I
were able to explain it to her..." (2.140)
1.1.2 Another Reason Lyra is significant is because she makes the transition from child to adulthood and lost her innocence along the way
220.127.116.11 Loss of innocence is similar to Adam and Eve who ate the forbidden fruit, and where subsequently kicked out of the Gaden of Eden
18.104.22.168 The force infringing on Lyra, and making her lose her innocence, is not her own sin, but instead the General Oblation board, and the gobblers
