    1. Standing waves- waves that remain in constant position; their profile oly move up and down. All points on a standing wave are in phase. Not all point have the same amplitude. Created either by the medium moving in opposite direction to the wave, or two opposite waves with the same frequency interfere.
      1. Node- no displacement Antinode- maximum displacement (twice the amplitude of the compontent waves)
