Emerging Technologies

1. 3D Printing

   • It is printed by adding layer on layer to produce a 3D object
   • Copies of objects can be made using 3D scanners and printing with a 3D printer

2. Artificial Intelligence

   • It is a system that percieves its environment and acts accordingly
   • Systems can learn from 'experience' such as teaching the syatem voice commands
   • It can be used by banks to identify fraud

3. Vision Enhancement

   • Helps people to see better
     • Zoom features or enlarged text
     • Night vision goggles send images to ICT systems where they are enhanced so that the user can see things that were otherwise not visible
     • Car drivers with poor eyesight can have a display that marks important objects

4. Virtual Reality

   • It is an environment generated by a computer system to simulate the real world
   • Extra hardware such as wired gloves, headsets or helmets sre used for full effect
   • It can be used for video games or for training people such as: pilot, drivers, firefighters, search and rescue

5. 3D & Holographic Imaging

   • Holorams use recorded light patterns scattered from objects to recreate images of those objects that appear to be 3D
   • It is being used in video conferencing so it looks as if the users are speaking to each other in person
   • Games can be rendered with certain techniques to make the images look 3D
   • Movies can be made 3D by computer systems but when displayed requie a special screen or television

6. Quantum Crytpography

   • Similar to encryption, it ensures that data is kept secure during transfer
   • It scrambles the data and it is decoded by a key that only the intended recipient has
