Fossils
Fossils are the remains of plant and animal from many years ago
Fossils form in rock in one of three ways:
1) Form Gradual Replacement by minerals ( Most Fossils happen this way)
Teeth, shells, bones ect... - don't decay easily
Eventually replaced by minerals as they decay forming a rock like substance
2) From casts and impressions
Sometime fossils are form when organism is buried in soft materials (like clay)
It hardens around it, organism decay
Leaving a cast (i.e Animal borrow or plants roots)
When footprints in clay (soft material) leaving a impression when then it harden.
Form Preservation in place where no decay happens
In Amber ( Fossilised resin)
Like in Juarssic Park
No oxygen or moisture so decay microbes can't survive.
Glaciers
Too cold for decay microbes can't survive
Peat bogs
Too acidic for decay microbes to survive
