        2. Must cause the injury

            2. Actual Bodily harm
              1. R v Chan Fook
                1. D subjected V to questioning and locked him in a room. V feared D's return and injured himself when he fell trying to escape
                  1. Harm cannot be so trivial as to be wholly insignificant
                    1. Psychiatric harm can be ABH
                    2. R v Smith
                      1. D cut off his girlfriends pony tail off
                        1. Cutting off a person's hair without his/her consent can amount to ABH
                        2. T v DPP
                          1. V was chased by D. V fell and was kicked in the head and v briefly blacked out
                            1. Even a very short loss of consciousness can amount to ABH
                        3. Mens Rea
                          1. The same as the mens rea for assault or battery
                            1. Assault- Intention or recklessness to cause V to apprehend immediate unlawful force
                              1. Battery- Intention or recklessness to apply unlawful force
                              2. No additional mens rea is needed for ABH itself
