    1. Random access Memory
      1. Allows storage of data and information such as OS's
        1. RAM advantages you can "write" to ram at any time, and then erase the ram at any time and "rewrite" over it.
          1. It has a disadvantage in that you need to constantly supply it with power or it will lose its information.
        2. ROM
          1. Read Only Memory
            1. ROM advantage is that (generally) once it is "written" to, it will be there forever.
              1. It does not require constant source of electricity.
                1. cannot be altered
              2. Flash Memory
                1. Faster read and write compared to traditional hard disk drives.
                  1. Currently costs a lot more per gigabyte than traditional hard drives for large storage capacities.
                    1. Less prone to damage.
