    1. by describing how particles move in soilds, liquids and gases
      1. solid
        1. strong forces of attraction, fixed rigid- no much energy- so can only vibrate
        2. liquid
          1. weaker bonds- close but can move to form irregular patterns- more energy than solid- move random directions at low speeds
          2. gas
            1. v. little forces of attraction, more energy- free to move in random directions and at high sppeds
        3. The particles of a gas have more energy than that of a liquid, which have more energy than particles in a soild
