How to get an A grade
Organising Your Folder
- One for Ethics, one for Philosophy
- Use folder dividers for each of the main parts of the specification. Write out the spec for that section on the folder divider. In each section you should include:
- A summary of the arguments, counter-arguments, principles and/or issues
- Your highlighted annotated reading, quotes pages and reflection sheets
- Essay plans
- Revision materials
- Your essays
- Department model
Summaries
- Don't flick back and forwards to your reading when making summaries. Instead read bigger sections and try to write from memory.
- Succinct summaries of:
- The main arguments, principles and/or issues (API)
- Examples that help to illustrate the API
- List of strengths and weaknesses
Reading
- You should have questions in mind when you read so that you know what to highlight
- Write your thoughts next to interesting bits you have highlighted
- Write these out onto a reflection sheet where you answer the questions you had in mind when highlighting
- Write out the your best quotes that help you answer the question
