Where is it set?
In Freemont, California where Amir now lives with Soraya.
When is it set?
December 2001
How old is Amir?
37 years old
What occurs?
Amir looks back on his past in Afghanistan and the strength in which it has dominated his life, something which is spurred by Rahim Khan's calling from Peshawar-for the reason of redemption only known at the moment. In Golden Gate Park he watches two kites which symbolise the extent of redemption and sets up the plot expansion of Amir's experiences as a child in Afghanistan.
