The purpose of this report is to make recommendations aimed at reducing the environmental impact that this company has been generating for so long, takin (into) account of suggestions from colleagues within the group. The following areas were highlighted by the majority of the staff: MAIN ISSUES: Electricity consumption: what often happens is that lights, computers, copy-machines, etc. remain on even when nobody is in the office. Overspend in cool/hot air conditioning: depending on the season we adapt our clothing (clothes) to stay more comfortable, however at work it seems that we need to use air conditioning to readjust the calendar to our own preferences Excess of paper: how many times has occurred that our recycling (to recycle) paper pile is bigger than the regular one? It is necessary to be aware that ( to be conscious of) everybody has his/her own devices ( appliance, gadget) and can read each document perfectly well on the screen. So, before printing the meeting documents send them by e-mail. Air pollution / traffic congestion: every morning we are all witnesses to the car congestion produced at the building entrance because of our reliance (dependence on) on private cars. Waste recycling: something common that almost everyone has reported to do at home is recycling so, why not doing it at work? INICIATIVES & RECOMMENDATIONS: After studying these main issues showed on the last staff survey results thoroughly (exhaustively, completely, totally) (thorough=complete, total), the committee has approved a series of measures and recommendations: Exchange old lights bulbs to energy efficient ones and, in hallways and entrances, substitute the power switch by the automatic ones in order not to waste energy when they don´t detect any movement in the area. This last ones should be suitable for the bathrooms as well, because they have a movement detector and when someone goes into the lights automatically switch on and when there is no one they remain off. After finishing our work day and before leaving home one colleague has recommend that employees should be certain about powering off their own computers, as the office lights as well. Especially on Fridays, when the cleaning staff are not coming either to the office until Mondays. To achieve this goal a proposal was that a remember notification would be introduced in each email account and that would appear in our desktop computer before closing our work session. In the same way, another coworker encouraged us to think twice before using the copy machine to make unnecessary document copies or just having in paper what we are able to read properly on screen. Recycling (recycle) bins: to make it easier for all of us to recycle effectively, reclycling bins are situated outside staff lunch room. Putting the right rubbishin the right bin help us to recycle properly but you should be aware that we will not collect bins with the wrong types of rubbish in them so please pay attention to the labels. Staff shuttle bus: our city is already suffering traffic restrictions during pollution episodes, for that reason, another initiative our committee has decided to incorporate is a staff shuttle (bus: transports two points) bus. This service would circulate every every working day around the city´s main points at peak hours (*for further details check the attached file). It is worth considering this opporunity to reduce time spent in traffic and in finding parking placeto improve in safety and to reduce stress resulting from driving. We are confident that if these recommendations are followed in combination with new energy systems improvements our environmental impact will be considerably reduced. In fact, this time next year a similar survey will be conducted to find out how much has been accomplished and what still needs to be done. As it has been expressed the interest that the company would provide detailed information on the wide range of actions that had been adopted in this regard, all the complete report has been published on our website in the Corporate Social Responsibility section.
