CLOTHING

Electrons get scraped off

leaves static charges on both parts

leads to attraction and little sparks while charges rearrange themselves

CARS

clothes and synthetic car seat

frictin causes electrons to be scraped off

touch metal door..charge flows and gives you electric shock/buzz

Conducting strips: hang down behind car and gives a safe discharge to earth.

DOORS

nylon carpet, shoes with insulating soles

transfer of electrons from carpet to you

charge will build up on your body

touch metal door handle

charge flows to conductor=shock

RUBBING BALLOON ON HEAD

causes electrons to be transferred to balloon giving it a negative charge

then stick to wall because charges on surface of wall can move slightly.

negative charge on balloon repel negative charges on surface of wall.

leaves positive charge on surface attracts negatively charged balloon.

Induction : Method of using a charged object to force charges in an uncharged object to move.

comb in hair

electrons transferred to comb.

becomes negatively charged

hold it near paper..causes induction in paper.

Lightening

rain drops+ice bump together inside storm clouds

knocks off electrons

leaves top of cloud positively charged

bottom -

creates high voltage+big spark

uses/dangers
