Solids, Liquids and GasesSolids, Liquids and Gases are all different types of substances.

What is a Solid?A solid can be anything. For example: table, chair, desk... When Particles or molecules are stuck together there are formed into a solid. We cannot see these particles, but if you use a scientific telescope you are most likely to see some of these tiny small molecules.

What is a liquid?A liquid is quite different to a solid. It does contain particles, but they are not stuck together as a solid would. A liquid could be something that we drink daily such as: water, juice and milk.  A substance that flows freely but is of constant volume, having a consistency like that of water or oil.

What is a Gas?A gas is something that we don't see everyday in our lives, but we can smell it. it likes to expand freely. It will go to any space available. If you were to keep gas in a air tight container, then it would have stayed in the container.
