Environment Protection Act, 1986 - notification 1991 about regulation of coastal activities - BY Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF)  Coastal Regulation Zone : 100m along banks of creeks, estuaries, backwater and rivers. 500m from HIgh Tide Line (HTL) Notification said - No setting up or expansion of industries, processing plaits etc. in CRZ.  Classification CRZ -1 , 2 , 3 , 4 CRZ - 1 - Ecologically sensitive areas. Essential in maintaining ecosystem of the coast. Lie between low and high tide. Salt and natural gas ventures permitted.  CRZ - 2 - Urban settlements in coastal areas. under new coastal zone regulations 2018, the floor space index (Built up space in plot : Total area of the plot) norms has been de-freezed. CRZ - 3 - All rural and urban localities outside of crz 1 and 2. Only agro and some public facilities allowed.  CRZ - 4 -  Aquatic area up to territorial limits. Fishing allowed. Solid Waste off.
