Examples of In Your Own Words- Technology Debate

Description

Was just going to use this as a thing for note taking and translating them into my own words. But I guess this happened. You can use this as an example for putting things in your own words. I recommend using thesaurus.com for synonyms.

Examples: The KardiaBand, for instance, monitors heart rhythm and provides an on-the-go electrocardiogram test. The band, worn as an Apple Watch strap, alerts its user when it detects an irregular heartbeat indicative of atrial fibrillation.

In my words:   Some technology can be used for health, for example the Kardia Band observes the owner's heart rhythm and can give electrocardiogram tests in any place and at any time.

Example Number 2: Home security has reinforced the weakest points of a home. The traditional lock and key have been replaced by fingerprint, code, and facial recognition. Alarm and camera systems are easily monitored by our phones from hundreds of miles away. Burglars are drawn to easy targets, often preventing a break-in from occurring at all.

In my words: Over the years, homes have been upgraded to fix the weakest points of the house. Lock and keys have been replaced with fingerprints, codes, and facial recognitions. Cameras around the house can be seen on phones from miles away.

Example Number 3: We put a smartphone in every hand, and now more than 1,000 distraction-related crashes happen on our roads every day (also steadily rising). Kids and pets succumb to heatstroke inside cars that are more environmentally sealed than ever—we’re on track to set a new record for hot car deaths in 2017.

In my words: Over 1,000 crashes caused by looking at their phones have been happening everyday. Kids and pets have been dying of heatstroke because their parents aren't paying attention to whether they're out or not and how hot it is outside. All of these deaths have occurred because people are too busy paying attention to their phone's rather than what's around them.

Example Number 4: Google knows everything you’ve ever searched, has an advertisement profile of you, knows all the apps you use, has all your YouTube history and knows where you have been.

In my words: The search engine Google knows everything you've done, all your YouTube history, the apps you've used, where you've been. It's an invasion of privacy, they even have an advertisement profile based off of everything you've done.

Example Number 5: So, if your home is equipped with a Wi-Fi network that supports the functionality of other connected appliances, just know that a hacked router opens up the door for all sorts of cybercriminals to gain access to your personal information, security cameras, and computers.

In my words: Lots of people have smart homes but they don't realize how hackers could get in. Once one person gets into the information, a bunch of other people can too. They can get access to your personal information, security cameras and computers. Having  access to all of that can make it easy for someone to rob you.
