'Leadership is Key'Honest and capable leaders are needed and potential leaders are specially selected and groomed. For example, Ong Teng Cheong was selected by Lee Kuan Yew. These leaders must have the moral courage and integrity to do what is right instead of what is popular, and also to prevent corruption.Leaders must also have the experience to be able enough to make tough decision that can affect the lives of all Singaporeans.'Anticipate(predict) change and Stay relevant(prepare)'The decisions made by the government must be forward-looking and Singapore must also be open to new ideas and willing to take risks. For example, NEWater and desalinated water supplies.Developing alternative water supplies make Singapore less dependent on other countries that can charge high price for water supplies.Hence, this principle allows government to identify and overcome future challengers Singapore may face.'Reward for work and Work for reward'Meritocracy is a system that rewards hard work and talent. For examples, the top 10% and 25% of students in schools are awarded the Edusave Scholarship Merit Bursary awards.Hence, this principle encourage all Singaporeans to develop their potential to excel. This can create positive impact for the country's social and economic growth. At the same time, rewarding people based on their efforts gives Singaporean an equal opportunity to work hard and succeed.'A stake for everyone, opportunity for all'This principle creates a sense of inclusiveness and provides opportunity for all people to have a say in decision-making.Singaporean can feel that they can discuss all manners of sensitive issues openly. For example, the government sought feedback from the people about how they felt about the integrated resort in 2004. many Singaporeans voiced both support and concerns about the government proposal. Hence, this principle is important as it develops in people a sense of belonging to the country as they feel that their views are taken seriously by the government. This in turns, creates a strong sense of confident in the government and its decisions.
