Energy needs? Children are rapidly growing. They need 34mg of calcium to keep their bones and teeth strong. 1.3g of protein due to the growth of muscles. 19g of fibre per day Foods to eat? Food like: milk, yoghurt, chicken, 5 a day, lean proteins like pulses, beans and eggs to get protein. This is the time to experiment with food as children will really know what they like/ don't like Foods to avoid? Children should stay away from foods that are high in sugar. Sugar can cause diabetes. Too much sugar (even in things like orange juice) can rot their baby teeth due to using sippy cups.
