RSTP(802.11w):

1) proposal and agreement:

sw1-----------------------sw2

proposal--> i am root

agreeement<- yes you are root

2) no listening and learning delay

3) only works for point-to-point links: point-to-point links should be full duplex.

half-duplex links are shared links - not 802.11w. fallback to 802.1D

4)RSTP port roles:

a) root port

b) Designated port

c) Alternate port: port which has alternate path to root, it is only receiving BPDUs. port state is blocking

d) Backup port: considered as a backup designated port. state is blocking

5) RSTP port states:

a) Discarding

b) learning

c) forwarding

-In STP, once convergence is done - only root bridge sends BPDU.

- in RSTP, all bridges sends BPDUs to each other. basically, BPDU are working as keep-alive and send from each port
