Ionic equation for neutralisation:H+(aq) + OH-(aq) ---> H2O (l)

Acids always have hydrogen ions present (H+)alkalis always have hydroxide ions (OH-)

The salt formed when sodium hydroxide reacts with sulphuric acid is Sodium Sulphate

The balanced symbol equation for copper (ll) oxide and sulphuric acid is:CuO + H2SO4  = CuSO4 + H2O

Reactions of magnesium with ethanoic acid: fizzing/bubbles of gas heat given out magnesium eventually disappears solution remains colourless

A salt is a neutral substance which is made up of an acid and an alkali

Formula for potassium nitrate: KNO3

2 compounds which react to give potassium nitrate:potassium and nitric acid

Reagent used to test for the presence of sulphate in copper sulphate:Barium chloride and the result will be a white precipitate

To determine pH:Add some U.I to the sample then compare this to the pH scale

A weak acid: lemon juicea strong alkali: sodium hydroxideneutral: water

Box B: corrosive

Observations of Copper (ll) carbonate and hydrochloric acid:blue/green powder dissolves to a clear green solutionfizzing

Balanced equation of copper (2) carbonate and hydrochloric acid:2HCl + CuCO3 = CuCl2 + H2O + CO2

Removal of CuCO3 from salt:filtration

Flame Test: clean a nichrome wire by dipping it into conc. HCl hold the wire in a hot flame to clean dip the clean nichrome wire into the conc. HCl again and then into the unknown solid hold the wire in a blue bunsen flame observe the colour of the flame

lilac flame: K+ (potassium)yellow percipitate: NA+ (sodium)
