HTML Basics

Ok lets take this nice and slow. The best way to learn HTML is to do it for yourself, now theirs two ways of doing this:1. Go to the link - http://www.htmlinstant.com/2. Install the free version of Komodo edit.its alot quicker to just use the online one i gave you however you will need to install a HTML editor at some point.

Now that you've clicked on the link you should see two sides, the right side is what the website will look like, the left is your HTML. Now start by deleting the text on the left side as we need a black canvas to work on. Your now ready to start building your own website!

Ok lets get going. firstly you need to know that HTML uses a 'tab' function, stay with me here. this means that each segment of text, each picture each title needs to be 'wrapped' in a 'tab' these look like this: text text text text text . each 'tab must be closed, so when you are done and want to close it you rewrite the 'tab' at the end with a / after the

If you didn't quite get the  last bit don't worry its a lot simpler then it sounds. lets start by writing your first line of HTML.  The 'tab' or element stands for paragraph and you can enter text into here so on the left side open up your paragraph 'tab' with the enter your text after and then close your tab with .  you now have your first line of HTML it should look something like Text text texttty text text now this is cool but that's really quite simple inset it? Lets look at the structure of a HTML document before we do any more, HTML webpages are layout like a word document. you have you header and your body and your footer. these are all displayed as tabs and the HTML goes inside one of the tabs. think about inception its like tabs within tabs it would look like this Text text text text text Now this looks more like a useable webpage. Lets change the display name of the website, this is not the url but the name of the website thats displayed on the tabs on your web browser. HTML For Scrubs Text text text text text Now were under way lets add a header to the document. headers are displayed as instead of however they should have a number after them 1 being the main heading, 2 being the subheading and so on. it will look like This is my main heading . put that in your website and it will look like this.
