- 1SyntaxSyntax is the term used to describe the structure and rules of writing programming code. For example in python, you use a speech mark to declare a string.
- 2VariableA variable is a location of memory in a computer system used to store data. A variable is used by the computer system to manipulate and perform actions.
- 3StringA string is a data type used to store text, numbers and symbols.
- 4FunctionA function is a predefined action in the program, which doesn't require the user to write a code. For example Print() and Input.
- 5OperatorAn operator is a code used to perform arithmetical (+, -, / and *) and conditional (And, Or & Not)calculators when combined with other codes.
- 6IntegerAn integer is a data type used to declare numerical data, but only whole numbers.
- 7How to describe a program in detailTips:
1) read and annotate the snippet of code.
2) List the key terminology needed to answer the questions.
3) Link your notes into continuous prose.
- 8Example high level descriptive answerThe purpose of the program is to calculate an answer for the user. The program works by asking users to enter numbers using the input function. The numbers entered by the user are then stored in two different variables, one for each input. The user then selects the operator by typing either +, -,/ or*. The program then uses the two variables and carries out the calculation, which is then printed on the screen using a function.
