Flashcards
A2 Practical: Software Dev.
Flashcards do conjunto (12)
- 1What is adaptation testing?Acceptance testing: when the client tests the bespoke software (software designed specifically for him) to see if his specs and requirements have been met
- 2What is beta testing?Following alpha testing, software will be distributed to a sample of people that's representative of the client sector. The people in this sample test and report any faults or comments to the developing company
- 3What is integration testingTesting that all individual working components will also worked when joined together. This is done incrementally: a component is added, tested and modified before another is added and goes through the same process.
- 4Formula to calculate expected time in PERT charts?Formula for expected time is
E = (O + 4M + P)/6
where O is the optimistic time, M is the most likely time, and P is the pessimistic time. - 5What is alpha testing?In house testing of the the final completed software before it's released.
- 6What are latest start (LS) and latest finish (LF) times?LF is the latest completion time (e.g. week no. 4) of a task without delaying the project
LS is the latest time a task is expected to start, which is = LF - task duration. - 7What is a critical path?Longest path through the PERT chart. This represents the minimum required time to complete a project.
- 8What is acceptance testing?When the bespoke software is tested by its intended client and a feedback is given if the requirements are not met, else the client will sign off the software.
- 9Why do errors occur?- Inaccurate specification of the software
- coding mistakes
- software designer makes a mistake
- poor user interface design leading to user usage mistake
- failure to write to accommodate the hardware or hardware fails - 10What is slack time?The difference between LS and ES: this shows the number of spare weeks that the team has before a task needs to start
- 11What is the equation that identifies the nodes on a critical path?ES=LS [I.E. no slack time]
- 12How is a task's LF calculated, using backwards passes, when more than 1 subsequent tasks all depend on said task?The previous task would have an LF equal to the following dependent task with the lowest LS.
