- 1What Is A Computer System?A device that can take a set of inputs, process/store them and give an output
- 2What Is The Process Of The CPU?The process of the central processing unit is to process data. The CPU is where process such as calculating searching and sorting take place
- 3What Are The Two Main Components Of The CPU?The Control Unit and ALU
- 4What Is The CU?The control unit uses electrical signals to direct the system to execute the instructions in stored programs.
- 5What Is The Purpose Of The ALU?The arithmetic logic unit carries out arithmetic and logical operations. Its functions are addition, subtraction and comparative functions.
- 6What Is The Purpose Of The MDR?The memory data register holds data that is on its way to somewhere else. It absorbs data quickly, then releases it where it is needed.
- 7What Is The Purpose Of The MAR?The memory address register holds the location of data. It stores the location of the next data or program needed.
- 8What Is The Purpose Of The Accumulator?The accumulator holds the results from the ALU. It registers short term, intermediate data.
- 9What Is The Fetch-Decode-Execute Cycle?Data is fetched from the main memory, that data is then decoded while the program counter keeps track, the instructions are executed and the cycle repeats.
