Flashcards
Channel State information and Precoding
Flashcards do conjunto (7)
- 1Channel state information (CSI)Known properties of a communication link including the combined effect of:
scattering
fading
power decay with distance etc. - 2Instantaneous CSI (Short term CSI)Current channel conditions ie. the impulse response of a digital filter.
- 3Statistical CSI (long term CSI)A statistical characterization of the channel including, eg:
fading distribution type
average channel gain
line-of-sight component
spatial correlation - 4What can be done with the knowledge of the instantaneous/statistical CSI?Optimization of the received signal for spatial multiplexing or to achieve low bit error rates.
- 5Training/Pilot SequenceA signal to be transmitted which is known by the receiver.
- 6What is a pilot sequence used for?The channel matrix can be estimated by comparing the known transmitted pilot signal to the received signal.
- 7Least-square estimation (minimum-variance unbiased estimation)Approximates the solution of overdetermined systems by minimizing the sum of the squares of the residuals.
