  1. 1Where is the cache located? The cache is stored on the CPU.
  2. 2What is the purpose of the cache? The purpose of the cache is to store frequently used instructions witch decreases the time it takes to complete them. The bigger the cache the less time it take to complete instructions as it doesn't need to fetch the data from the RAM.
  3. 3What is virtual memory?Virtual memory is an area of your secondary storage used when there isn't enough space on your RAM.
  4. 4What is a peer to peer network?A peer to peer networks is when devices are connected together on a network without a server controlling them.
  5. 5What is a client server network?A client-server network is a network which is controlled by a server.
  6. 6What can be the central point of a star topology? The central point is normally a switch, router, hub or server.
  7. 7In a star typology What happens if the central point fails? If the central point fails, then the whole network will stop working.
  8. 8In a star typology What happens if one of the nodes fails. If one node fails, the rest of the network can continue to work.
(unless it is the central point)
  9. 9What is a mesh typology? In a mesh topology, all nodes are connected to each other without needing a central point.
  10. 10In mesh typology what happens if a node fails? If one node fails, the rest of the network can continue to work.
  11. 11What is a stakeholder?A stakeholder is an individual or group of people who are interested or affected by the decisions a business/organisation makes.
  12. 12What is an ethical issue?Something which raises questions about right or wrong in the views of society.
  13. 13What is a Cultural issue? An issue which affects a particular group of people. A “culture” can be described as the values, beliefs and social behaviour of particular people or a society.
  14. 14What is the purpose of the CPU?To fetch, decode and execute instructions.
  15. 15What is meant by clock speed? How many fetch-decode-execute cycles the CPU can perform per second.
The higher the clock speed, the more instructions that can be processed per second. Therefore programs load quicker.
  16. 16What is the difference between RAM and ROM?RAM is volatile, whereas ROM is non volatile.
RAM stores programs the computer is using, whereas ROM stores the instructions needed to boot (start up) the computer.
  17. 17why dose a computer system needs secondary storageNon volatile storage is needed on a computer system in order to store the operating system, programs and files.
  18. 18What is a LAN?Devices which are connected over a small geographical location (e.g. a single building)
  19. 19What is a WAN?Devices/networks which are connected over a large geographical location (e.g. the Internet)
  20. 20What storage type would you use for speed?solid state as it has the fastest read/write speed.
  21. 21What storage type would you use for a lot of storage? You would use magnetic as it has the greatest storage capacity
  22. 22What storage type would you use to mass produce a video and disperse them?optical storage could be used for this as it is cheap and easy to produce is mass quantities.
