Resumo de Recurso

Questão Responda
1. Protection 2. Excretion 3. Production of Vitamin D 4. Temperature Regulation 5. Energy Stores 6. Homoeostatic Organ
1. Epidermis - Pathogens, Melanin - UV rays, Dermis + Adipose - Mechanical Damage. 2. Sweat - water, salt, urea, ammonia, uric and lactic acid. 3. Absorbs Ca + P from blood to strengthen bones. 4. DECREASE TEMP - Arterioles contract, blood flow decrease at surface, hair rises (trap air), shivering. INCREASE TEMP - Sweating, hairs flat, arterioles open, increased blood flow.
5. Adipose Tissue - insulator + energy store. Shock absorbers - protect against mechanical injury. 6. Important in maintaining internal environment for efficient metabolism Malpighian - produce melanin Granular - keratin accumulates Cornified - dead keratinised cells
Sclera: white of eye. Shape Choroid: dark layer. Prevent reflection, blood supply. Retina: Inner layer (rods +cones). Detect black/white/colour, make nerve impulses.
Fovea: cones only. Area of sharpest vision. Blindspot: exit point of optic nerve. Insensitive to light. Optic Nerve: axons. Carry electrical impulses to cerebrum. Vitreous Humour: shape Ciliary Body: thickening of choroid. Controls shape + focusing powers of lens. Ciliary Muscle: causes shape of lens to change
Suspensory Ligaments: Attach to ciliary body of lens. Transfer pull of ciliary body to lens. Lens: focus light on retina Iris: coloured part. Controls amount of light entering. Pupil: allows light into eye. Cornea: Transparent part of eye. Shape the eye. Conjunctiva: Protection
HOW LIGHT ENTERS THE EYE? Light passes through the cornea and pupil. ciliary muscle acts on lens to change the shape so the image can be focused on the retina. Image passed from retina to brain via optic nerve. IRIS RESPONSES DIM LIGHT: Radial muscles contract, circular muscles relax, pupil diameter dilates - more light. BRIGHT LIGHT: Radial muscles relax, circular muscles contract, pupil diameter contracts-less light.
