Flashcards
IDE and SQL
Flashcards do conjunto (21)
- 1What does IDE stand for?Integrated Development Environment
- 2What is high level code?High level code is code that is designed to be closer to human languages so that it is easier to use. They use instructions to represent machine code instructions.
- 3What is low level code?Low Level Code is the code that reflects the mechanical workings of the CPU. Its less suitable for human use.
- 4What are the features of High Level code?High level code is:
- Easier to write/read
- Easier to maintain
- Portable
- It supports a wide range of data types - 5Types of Low Level code- Machine code - this is a language directly understanding by a computer's CPU (Binary)
- Assembly Code - This uses mnemonics (set of commands) to make simple commands easier to understand - 6What are Translators used foe?Translators are used to convert High level code into low level code.
- 7What do Interpreters do?Interpreters convert the high level code, line by line and executing them before moving on.
- 8What do compilers do?Compilers convert the whole program into machine code before the program is run.
- 9Advantages and Disadvantages of compilers:Advantages:
-Harder to modify
-Runs faster
-Takes up less memory (No translator needed)
Disadvantages:
-All errors are listed at the end - 10Advantages and Disadvantages of InterpretersAdvantages:
-You can test individual sections of the code to run.
-It is easier to debug
Disadvantages:
-It is slower to execute than a compiler - 11AssemblerAn Assembler translates assembly language mnemonics like ADD, STA, INP to machine code
- 12SQL(Structured Query Language)SQL is a language used to create queries in a database. These databases will hold data such as customer information.
- 13Code EditorThis does the colour coding and some do bracket matching.
- 14What is error diagnostics? It is the code that locates error
- 15What are the operations for SQL?MOD and DIV
MOD is remainder
DIV is the whole number - 16What is 20MOD620/6 = 3 r 2
= MOD 2 - 17What is 20DIV620/6 = 3 r 2
= DIV2 - 18What does runtime environment mean?Runtime environment means that you can execute the program one step at a time.
- 19What does syntax checking do?This recognises incorrect use of syntax and highlights any errors.
- 20DebuggerThis is a program within the IDE that is used to detect errors. If the debugger detects errors, it may suggest what the type of error it is and where it is
- 21LibrariesThese provide functions that are not included in the core part of the programming language. These functions can be imported and used at the start of the program code
