Questão Responda
When is an ionic bond formed? An ionic bond is formed when an atom loses an electron and another atom gains that electron.
Do ionic bonds occur between metals or non-metals? They occur between a metal and a non-metal.
How are the electrons transferred? (from metal to non-metal or non-metal to metal) The electrons are transferred from metal to non-metal.
Sodium 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1 Chlorine 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p5 Which atom will gain an electron and which atom will lose an electron? Chlorine will gain an electron to fill 3p and sodium will l lose 3s1.
If Chlorine gains a negatively charged electron will Chlorine become Cl+ or Cl- Chlorine become Cl- because it has gained an negatively charged electron.
If Sodium has lost an negatively charged electron will it become Na+ or Na-? It will become Na+ because it has lost an negatively charge electron.
Name 5 properties of ionic bonds. 1. solid at room temperature 2. giant structures. 3. high melting point 4. electrically conductive in solution. 5. Ionic compounds are brittle. 6. Water soluble.
