- 1What classification alloys are considered ferrous alloys?Iron and steels of varying carbon content and stainless steel.
- 2What is the microstructure that determines strength of some alloy classifications?For pure iron and low carbon steels: ferrite and pearlite/ferrite respectively.
For higher carbon steels: tempered martensite.
For others, it could be austenite or intermetallics. - 3What classification of alloys are non-ferrous?Aluminium and titanium alloys.
- 4For non-ferrous metals, what is their microstructure if strengthen?Precipitates in microstructure and/or solid solution.
