  1. 1What does ROM stand for?Read Only Memory
  2. 2What does RAM stand for?Random Access Memory
  3. 3What is the difference between ROM and RAM?ROM is non-volatile, meaning data is not lost when the computer is turned off, but RAM is volatile, meaning the memory is only temporary and lost when the power is turned off.
  4. 4What is Optical Media?Things such as a compact disk (CD) - are storage media that hold content in digital form and that are written and read by a laser.
  5. 5Virtual MemoryWhen RAM becomes full a small section of the HDD is borrowed to store parts of the program that are not in use. Gives the illusion that the computer is functioning as it should (not lagging).
  6. 6How do Logic gates work? The processor fetches, decodes and executes instructions from memory. It is used to make decisions. The processor is made up of millions of logic gates used to make decisions. Each gate takes an electrical input and outputs a result based on it.
  7. 7What is the CPU?The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the part of a computer system that is commonly referred to as the "brains" of a computer. The CPU is also known as the processor or microprocessor. The CPU is responsible for executing a sequence of stored instructions called a program.
  8. 8What is Secondary Storage?Secondary storage refers to storage devices and media that are not constantly accessible by a computer system. Examples include external hard drives, portable flash drives, CDs, and DVDs. These devices and media must be either plugged in or inserted into a computer in order to be accessed by the system.
  9. 9What are the types of Secondary Storage?Optical Media
    Flash Memory
    Magnetic Disk
  10. 10Cache Memory is....Pronounced cash, a special high-speed storage mechanism. Cache can be either a reserved section of main memory or an independent high-speed storage device. Two types of caching are commonly used in personal computers: memory caching and disk caching.
