it is the amount which os the advance by the higher officer to sub ordinate so that he can make no. of specific payments like a muster roll or any other voucher whoch has been passed.
The max. amount of temporary advance depends upon the security of subordinate. - 13ADVANCE PAYMENTsuch payments are made in case where work is done but not measured.

on strength of this certificate, 75% payment is made to yhe contractor. - 14SECURITY ADVANCEadvance to contactor as a general rule are the prohibited but to help the contractor to keep up the progress of work these are permitted.
it is an advanced payment made on the security of material brought on site of work to a contractor in the interst of work. - 15retention moneyThe department withholds about 10 to 15% of the monthly payments to the contractor to have an additional hold on the contractor so that he will not be encouraged to abandon the work when nearing completion.
- 16reduced rate paymentsomeone's the contractor may fail to carry out the quirk strictly as per the specification plans and drawing.
But the engineer is of the view that the work is structurally sound but finishing item is not as pet the speciation pre as per the actual drawing. - 17petty advanceit is small amount advance to the engineer in charge for purchasing materials in the case of emergency.
the quantity of material to be purchased should be less and cost of material should not be more than 10 rs in such cars the quotation and approval are not required.
