-bulge in the middle for 15-60s indicating a high proportion of the economically active
-a fairly high percentage of the population over 60% - 2reasons for developed structure:-overall wealth of a country
-high standards of living, healthcare, education, housing, employment
-therefore life expectancy is high(many over 60s)
-average income per head is high

-a more definite pyramid shape where people over 15 start to decrease
-very few people in higher age groups - 4reasons for developed structure:-overall lack of development in terms of wealth, industrial growth, health, education, food supply and quality of life
-lack of economic prosperity
