Exceptions

There are no changes if:

The reporting verb is in the present tense

The statement is still true

present continuous ----> past continuous

I'm going to Jenny's ---> She said she was going to Jenny's

Pronouns also change when necessary

I'm going ---> ...she was going...

Some modal verb change and other modals don't change

will-->would

should-->should

can-->could

may-->might

must-->had to
