1. Hackers

   • Unless your computer is protected anyone could potentiallly gain access to a computer system - from here they can edit, copy and delete computer files. Unauthorised users who do this are known as hackers

2. Malware

   • This is the term for any computer program installed either deliberately or accidentally with the intent of the program causing harm. The most common one is:
     • Viruses; They are programs designed to disrupt the workings of a computer, they are called viruses because they are designed to be spread from one infected machine to another
       • They can be downloaded from websites or installed by opening attached spam emails
     • Spyware:
       • This is software designed to monitor the ways a computer is used and then reported backto someone. An example is keystroke which can be used to record passwords for bank websites
     • Adware
       • This is software designed to monitor your internet use and then display adverts based on your webbrowsing habits.
         • Many people believe that adware is an invasion of privacy.
     • Phishing
       • This is when you recieve an email pretending to be a bank or another businesses asking that you visit their website and re-enter your password and other personal data.
         • These websites are FAKE and the owner will use the data they collect from you to hack into your real bank account to withdraw money
           • Phishing emails are an example of spam

3. SPAM

   • Is the email equivalent of junkmail, The sender will often send the same email tot housands of random emails
