12. GUI benifits

    • the user has the ability to custmise the GUI set up to suit theor own characteristics; changing the font size, style and colour
    • the graphics help to make the system useable as the associated images trigger long term memory, rather than having to learn commands and functions
    • the windows GUI system helps the user to multitask in software by transferring data between windows and running to tasks simulaneously

13. GUI limitations

    • graphic user interfaces use a larger proportion of the system resources, such as processor time and main memory
    • they also need a lot of storage to hold a vast amount of softwrae code and images

14. comandline interfaces

    • the caommand line interface is commonly known as CLI
    • its a method for interacting with a computer operating system or with system software by typing commands to perform specific tasks
    • the command sin a commandline are not intuitive
    • typing help into the system should list the commands and explain their funcionality
    • commandline interfacing is mainly used by experts where the situation doesnt enable the computer to have much power
    • in factories and production machinery is often computer controlled by a local processor
    • to service or modify the machine the engineer can plug in a monitor/ keyboard and make ajustments to the settings using a range of commands in complicated machine type codes
