secondary storage

secondary storage

1. solid state storage

   • solid state hard drive
   • external hard drive
   • USB memory
   • excellent read/write speed
   • less capacity than magnetic storage
   • more durable
   • more energy efficient
   • less cost effective compared to magnetic storage
   • has a limited read/write lifespan

2. magnetic storage

   • magnetic hard drive
   • external hard drive
   • high capacity this makes it cost effective
   • slower read/write speed than solid state
   • not as durable due to moving parts

3. it is non-volatile and is needed to store programs, operating systems and files when your devise is turned off

4. optical storage
