1. optical storage

     • DVD
   • It is any disk that you read/write with a laser
   • advantage
     • cost affective
     • very portable
   • disadvantage
     • not very durable
     • has limited capacity

2. magnetic storage

   • example
     • floppy disks
     • hard disk drives
     • magnetic tape
   • disadvantage
     • not as durable as solid state due to moving parts therefore it is not the best, if you had a device magnetic would/could break easier as of the moving parts whereas solid doesnt break that easily.
     • has a slow read and write system
     • the magnetic tape could be damaged or broken. making the tape useless
   • advantage
     • cost effective
     • has a larger capacity compared to solid state. therefor making it better for storage.

3. solid state

   • example
     • harddrive
     • USB drive
     • CPU
   • advantage
     • more durable than the rest
     • much faster than magnetic storage
   • disadvantage
     • less cost effective
     • has a much smaller capacity
     • has a limited read/write lifespan

4. Non-volatile meaning when computers are off the data that has been used/there has not been deleted permanently. it stores the data/programs/files for when you need it again making a copy each time it does so.
