YEAR 8: Python (02.12.19)
A programming language
- Worlds' fastest and most popular
- Can be used by people from many different disciplines, e.g. NASA
- Can be used for data analysis (collection)
- Automation and web apps
- Python is the easiest and most efficient
- Can be used for data analysis (collection)
- Can be used by people from many different disciplines, e.g. NASA
- Artificial Intelligence
- Worlds' fastest and most popular
Some other programming Languages
- Java (Script)
- C ++
Algorithm: different precise steps the computer uses to solve a problem
- Sequencing Instructions for the computer, through coding
- If all the things are in order, it is an algorithm
The action of breaking a problem into simpler tags, is called decomposition, this is done to solve an algorithm
- We decompose problems into smaller steps to make it easier for us
- The computer does the same and breaks the complex steps into simple steps
Programming
- Sequencing Instructions (when something is in order one after the other)
- Accuracy is Important
Python's Development Environment
- IDLE-Integrated Development Environment
- Interactive Mode: Lets you see your result as you type them
- Prompt Mode: allows you to save your work
- Both modes are python Shell (they both use shell window)
- They also use Editor
- Both modes are python Shell (they both use shell window)
- Prompt Mode: allows you to save your work
De-bugging
- Taking an error out of a code
- Syntax Errors
- Reading Interpreter Feedback
Variables
- A variable is a location in memory in which you can temporarily store text or numbers (where you can store different type of data)
- They are temporary because you can rename the variable and change its contents
- You can't use a python 'reserved word' as a variable name
- To make your programs easier to understand, use meaningful names for your variables, such as 'firstname' rather than 'var1'
- These are called camel keys
- To make your programs easier to understand, use meaningful names for your variables, such as 'firstname' rather than 'var1'
- A variable can only contain letters, numbers and underscores
- A variable cannot start with a number
- A variable is a location in memory in which you can temporarily store text or numbers (where you can store different type of data)
