Police Department
Illegally 3D Printed Weapons
- Police have no means to track or trace back weapons illegally printed
- Weapons can easily be concealed and missed by metal detectors
- A new division may be needed to log and track 3D printed weapons recovered
Predictive Policing
- Third party software will be used to determine where crimes may occur, which the public may find intrusive
- Public may consider some aspects of this to be racially motivated.
- Putting Officers in troublesome areas may leave other areas un-patrolled, potentially leading to more officers needing to be hired.
Blockchain/Cryptocurrency
- New equipment may need to be purchased to render and disect blockchain ledgers while investigating internet crimes
- Public employees specializing in technology services may supplement staff to conduct investigations
- Drug transactions may never need to be conducted in person again. Utilizing postal services and cryptocurrencies may eliminate hand-to-hand deals.
Drone Enforcement
- Quicker results for search and rescue, not so reliant on K9
- Public may interpret drones as a way for the government to spy on them
- Could create new aviation division within a department
Hot Spots Policing
- Focusing officers in hot-spots may reduce the number officers needed to patrol
- Deterrence of crimes leads to better overall public outlook on Police.
- Citizens can check and see if they live in or near a Hot Spot
