1. clock speed

   • the number of fetch decode execute cycle a cpu can do in the space of 1 second. this is mesured in hurtz.
     • the higher the clock speed the more instructions can be executed per second.

2. cores

   • the number of independent processors in the CPU which runs the fetch decode execute cycle simultaneously.
     • cores are independent processers in the cpu.
       • cores run the fetch decode execute cycle.

3. RAM

   • RAM stores the programs, parts of the operating system and the files curently being used. RAM stands for random access memory.

4. cache

   • it is very fast RAM in the cpu.
     • cache memory is a small amount of memory which is either inside the cpu or or closer to the cpu than ram.
