1. Definiton - using codes that are like natural language makes programming easier

2. Advatages

   • Faster and more efficient
   • Less prone to make errors
   • Easier to read, write and debug

3. Why needed? - Processors use 1s and 0s so tanslators are needed to convert our programing code into machiene code

4. Types

   • Assemblers - tranlates assembly laguage into machiene code
     • Very fast translating beacuse every assembly instrucuition has a 1 to 1 equivalent in machiene code
   • Interpreters - executes prgram code line by line
     • Analyses very liune then runs it so is useful for debugging, prototyping and testing code
     • source code is needed for the program to execute
   • Compiler - translates high level language into machiene code
     • source code is not included so compiled copde is more secure than interpreted code
     • Often faster code is produced than interpreted code
     • Produces an executable file which can run without then need for souce code
