1. Registers

   • Memory Data Register (MDR)
     • Stores the data or instruction which is being fetched from memory.
   • Accumulator
     • Stores the intermediate results of a calculation.
   • Memory Address Register (MAR)
     • Stores the address where the data will be fetched/written.
   • Program Counter
     • Stores the address of the next instruction to be run

2. Clock Speed

   • The speed at which a processor can execute instructions

3. RAM

   • Stores the instuctions, parts of the OS and the files currently being used

4. Virtual Memory

   • Used as a back up when RAM is all used up.

5. Cores

   • Independent processors that carry out the Fetch-Decode-Execute cycle simultaneously

6. Secondary Storage

   • Non-Volatile, long term storage
   • Magnetic,Optical and Solid State Storage

   • Local Area Network
     • Small Area

   • Wide Area Network
