Network

Network

1. ip Adress

   • used to identify
     • an ivp adress is a unique value assigned to every computer on a network

2. Mesh topology

   • Instead of using a star , bus or ring topology, each node is connect to one or more nodes .
     • There are mutiple different routes between any two nodes
       • it is impossible to break the internet due to another route always being able to be found
         • data is put into chuncks called packets .
           • The packets are re-assembled on the other side

3. Bus network

   • disavantages
     • Castastrophic failure if wire breaks .
       • Data collision caused by two electrons banging into eachother
         • advantage is that it is cheap

4. Ring network

   • Advantge cheap and no collisions
     • Disavantage High chance of catastrophic failure ,slower and diffacult too add new computers

5. Star network

   • Distavatage - expensive and a lot of cabels
     • advanatge - quick, low chance of castraphotic failure and easytoo add new computers

6. What is a network ?

   • A network is a group of computers connected together so they and we can communicate
     • Advantages of Network
       • Your files are available on every computer you use .
       • Consistent use expeirence example
         • You can log on too any computer in the school using the same username
       • without network
         • If you changed your password it would only affect one computer
   • LAN
     • Local area network
       • A network contained in a certain area
         • WAN
           • Wide area network
             • A network that spans a large area

7. A topolgy is the arrangment of computers and other elemnts ona network
