1. Social & Emotional

   • Show enjoyment at caring routines such as bath time.
   • Respond with obvious pleasure to loving attention and cuddle.
   • Smile at Familiar people.
   • stay awake foe longer periods of time.
   • fix their eyes unblinkingly on the carer's face when feeding.

2. Gross Motor

   • Prone: lift head and chest on forearms.
   • Held: sit with back straight.
   • Held: Lift head above body.
   • Wave arms and bring hands together over body.
   • Keep their head in a central postion when lying supine.
   • Have almost no head lag in moving into the siting position.
   • Kick vigorously, with their legs alternating or occasionally together.

3. Fine Motor

   • Can hold a rattle for a short time.
   • Move their head to follow others moving.
   • Watch their hands and play with their fingers .
   • Clasp and unclasp hands.

4. Sensory

   • Love faces and can recognize mom in photo.
   • Respond to their name being called.
   • Focus eyes on the same point.
   • Turn their heads toward a sound source.
   • Can move their head deliberately to gaze around them.
   • Prefer moving objects to still ones- their eyes will follow a moving toy from side to side .
   • Often suck their lips in response to the sounds of food preparation.
   • Are distressed by loud noises.

5. Cognitive & Language

   • Smile in response to talking.
   • Laugh and vocalize with increasing tone.
   • Cooing , gurgling and chuckling.
   • Cry loudly when expressing a need.
   • Take an increasing interest in their surroundings.
   • Show an increasing interest in playthings.
   • Understand cause and effect - for example, they will deliberately shake a rattle, knowing that it will make a noise.
