1. Computational Thinking

   • Types of errors: syntax errors, runtime errors and logic error
   • problem solving
     • Decomposition is the first steps to breaking down a problem into smaller and more manageable parts
     • Abstraction is where you take the important bits and leave the less essential
   • Flow charts
     • Analyse - understand the problem
       • Design - develop a solution for the problem
         • Implement - translate the description into a programming language
           • Debug and test - using tools, execute, find errors, fix errors and test different inputs
             • Evaluate - make judgement about the solution
   • Data types
     • Integer- is whole numbers
       • Real - is a float like a decimal number
         • Boolean - Is either true or false
           • Character - is string which is letters / symbols put in speech marks
             • String - is multiple characters

   • LANs and WANs
     • LANs - local area networks. These normally are used for a small area often one site like a house
     • WANs - wide area networks. These are used over a large geographical area
     • Wired vs Wireless
       • Wired transmission media are usually either copper or can be fibre optic cables
       • Wireless transmission media can be wifi
       • Overall wired is faster but you don't have the same mobility as wireless
   • Network topologies
