Super Smash Bros Algorithm - sem2 2026
Prescribed Criteria
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
- Develop an algorithm for one of the Nintendo games – Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart
- Pseudocode conventions must be used in the algorithm. Such as all keywords must be written in bold and capital, use indentation when a code belongs to a particular block of code, START and END should be at the beginning and the end of the algorithm
- Example keywords for pseudocode – IF/IF ELSE, IS EQUAL TO, START, END, THEN, WHILE
- 2. Super Smash Bros
- o Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- For Super Smash Bros create a high damage strategy
- The strategy should be offensive, which means that we do not need to create defensive moves
- The moves should ultimately eliminate the opponent
- o Use five (5) conditions (IF, ELSEIF, ELSE) in your pseudocode
- The pseudocode must include 5 unique moves to damage the opponent using IF, ELIF and ELSE
- Example offensive moves of Pikachu: Back Throw – 9% damage Forward Tilt – 10% damage
- Forward smash – 12% damage Volt tackle – 20% damage Skull bash – 21.4% damage
- o Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
Algorithm Constructs
- sequence
- Sequence is ...
- e.g., sequence for Final Smash: uppercut, ..., ...
- Sequence is ...
- Assignment
- definition
- e.g., player_name = Bowser. Here the variable name is player_name, and the value assigned to it is 'Bowser'
- definition
- Selection
- Selection allows a program to choose between different actions instead of running instructions in order
- THEN move forward. In this example, if the distance is greater than five, then the character moves forward. This is the selection made by the program.
- Selection allows a program to choose between different actions instead of running instructions in order
- Condition
- A condition is a logical test that evaluates true of false. It sets out the condition that must be true in order to for the program to move forward
- e.g., IF distance > 5. Here the condition is that the distance must greater than 5 for the next step to follow
- A condition is a logical test that evaluates true of false. It sets out the condition that must be true in order to for the program to move forward
