   • Consists of iconic (visuals) and echoic memory (sound)
   • High capacity
   • Lasts half a second

   • Limited capacity store(5-9 items)

6. 5. Maintenance rehearsal

   • Repeating material over and over again
   • Info stays in STM for as long as we rehearse it

7. 6. Retrieval

   • When we want to recall LTM, it has to be transferred back into the STM

8. 7. Long term memory

   • If we rehearse long enough, info passes into LTM
   • Potentially permanent store
   • Unlimited capacity
