1. Characteristics of a document

   • Character: Is a letter, number or symbol on a document
   • Paragraphs: Seperates long pieces of text using formatting
   • Section: can be changed or created when properties such as when properties such as line numbering, headers and footers have been changed
   • Frame: an area of the page that contains text or graphics
   • Header: area at the top of the page creators name, title of document and date
   • Footer: Area at the bottom of the page for page numbering and footnotes
   • Footnote: additional pieces of information added into explain a word or phrase
   • Page: each printed side of paper containing the components of the document

2. Presentation points

   • OHP: +cheaper +easier to fix - no effects - acetate slide deteriorate
     • Manual: +allows participation +can talk through pwp -cant keep track of time -have to watch the screen
       • Non Linear: +slides can go in order, +meets the individuals needs -harder to prepare handouts - harder to time
   • Computer and Projector: +lots of effects + easy to organise -Hard to Fix -need electricity
     • Automatic: +left to play itself +can be given to someone else to use, - no audience participation -cant stop or start
       • Hierarchical: +highly structured +can show similarities and diff -harder to determine times - takes a long time to prepare - cant pass it on to anyone

3. Rules of presentation

   • Size and Font must be reasonable
   • Colours of text and pics must be visible
   • Text on a slide must be to a minimum
   • Graphics need to be selected carefully
   • Animation, sound and effect must be considered and acceptable for the presentation

4. Mail Merge

   • - used to personalise files.- you need a data source -original document/ main document

           • Add in the fields
             • Preview the document
               • Press complete
   • Positives: + good for novice users + saves time using the same document, + easier to proof read + can be personalised +reduced risk of errors.

5. Bitmap

   • Made out of pixels
     • pixelation
       • Larger file
         • Can be compressed

6. Vector

   • Made out of lines and equations
     • Can be enlarged
       • smaller files
         • cant be compressed
