method 1 how to find 3/5 of 20. first we find out 1/5 of 20, we do the sum 20 divided by 5 which equals 4. we then find 3 lots of 4 which is 12. 12 is 3/5 of 20.

Find 3/7 of 35
- 1/7 of 35  35 divided by 7 equals 5  then we do the sum 5 times 3 and that gives us the answer of 15 so 3/7 of 35 equals 15
- Examples Find 5/7 of 49
  - 1/7 = 7  5/7 of 49 = 35
Shaded fractions
- if 3 blocks we shaded out of 10 blocks we know the answer will be 3/10  if 5 blocks were shaded out of 10 the answer can be 5/10 but it would be better to simplify it to 1/2
- 7 blocks were shaded out of 24 blocks. What is the fraction of the shaded blocks?
  - the answer would be 7/24
Equivalent fractions
- 4/5 = /15 what is the missing number? the missing number would be 12 as the bottom number is timed by 3 and the top number has to be the same so it would be 4 times 3 which equals 12 so the answer is 4/5 = 12/15
- Examples 4/3 = /18
  - 4/3 = 24/18
Cancelling fractions\simplifying fractions
- this means you have to cancel it down till it cannot cancel down anymore. this can help by dividing it down in the same number they both go in, for example 12/16 can be simplified by dividing it by 4 it then will go to 3/4 and that will be the answer.
- Examples 16/24 = ?
  - 16/24 = 8/11
