1. Vector

   • Made up from lines equations and calculations
   • Vector-based graphic files cannot be compressed
   • Images are more precise than bitmaps
   • Take up less storage space than bitmaps
   • Take up less memory than bitmaps
   • Individual elements can be grouped
   • Use more processing power than bitmaps
   • Can be re-sized or re-scaled with no loss of definition

2. Bitmap

   • Made up from pixels
   • Bitmap files can be compressed
   • Images are less precise than vectors
   • Take up more storage space than vectors
   • Take up more memory than vectors
   • Individual elements cannot be grouped
   • Use less processing power than vectors
   • When resized, there is a lowering of image quality. Becomes blurry and pixellated
