1. STAR

   • Each device has its own cable which connects to the hub / switch
   • Most popular way to set up a LAN
   • Very reliable
     • If one cable / device stops working, others will not be effected
   • No data collisions
   • Expensive
     • Not as expensive as MESH
   • If a hub / switch fails, all devices connected to it will also stop working

2. MESH

   • All devices are connected together
   • There is no central switch / hub
   • If one cable / device fails others will not be effected
   • Expensive
     • Lots of cables needed to connect all the devices together
   • Can handle high levels of data traffic
   • If some cables are missing it becomes a partial MESH
